·  Whenever a vehicle equipped with headlights is also equipped with any auxiliary lamps, or a spot lamp or any otherlamp on the front of the vehicle which projects a beam of intensity greater than 300 candlepower, no more than four of any such lamps on the front of the vehicle must be lighted when on a highway.
·  Blue lights are not permitted on passenger vehicle. We highly recommend avoiding red and green colors on any aftermarket lights. All flashing lights completely prohibited on passenger vehicles. The maximum number of lights is four.
·  In addition to at least two headlights and one tail lightvehicles in Iowa are allowed to have additional lighting (see below).

Chapter 321 - MOTOR VEHICLES AND LAW OF THE ROAD

321.384 When lighted lamps required.
1. Every motor vehicle upon a highway within the state, at any time from sunset to sunrise, and at such other times when conditions such as fog, snow, sleet, or rain provide insufficient lighting to render clearly discernible persons andvehicles on the highway at a distance of five hundred feet ahead, shall display lighted headlamps as provided in section 321.415, subject to exceptions with respect to parked vehicles as hereinafter stated.

Every motor vehicle other than a motorcycle or motorized bicycle shall be equipped with at least two headlamps with at least one on each side of the front of the motor vehicle.
321.386
Headlamps on motorcycles and motorized bicycles. Every motorcycle and motorized bicycle shall be equipped with at least one and not more than two headlamps which shall comply with the requirements and limitations of this chapter.
COLORS RESTRICTIONS

321.393 Color and mounting.
1. A lighting device or reflector, when mounted on or near the front of a motor truck or trailer, except a school bus, shall not display any other color than white, yellow, or amber.
2. No lighting device or reflector, when mounted on or near the rear of any motor truck or trailer, shall display any other color than red, except that the stop light may be red, yellow, or amber.
321.422.
No person shall drive or move any vehicle or equipment upon any highway with any lamp or device thereon displaying or reflecting a red light visible from directly in front thereof. No person shall display any color of light other than red on the rear of any vehicle, except that stop lights and directional signals may be red, yellow, or amber.
Blue lights must never be used on any part of a vehicle except on authorized emergency vehicles.
EQUIPMENT RESTRICTED

321.387 Rear lamps.
Every motor vehicle and every vehicle which is being drawn at the end of a train of vehicles shall be equipped with alighted rear lamp or lamps, exhibiting a red light plainly visible from a distance of five hundred feet to the rear. All lamps and lighting equipment originally manufactured on a motor vehicle shall be kept in working condition or shall be replaced with equivalent equipment.
321.389 Reflector required.
Every new motor vehicle, trailer, or semitrailer hereafter sold and every commercial vehicle hereafter operated on a highway shall also carry at the rear, either as a part of the rear lamp or separately, a red reflector meeting the requirements of this chapter.
321.402 Spot lamps.
Any motor vehicle may be equipped with not to exceed one spot lamp.
321.403 Auxiliary driving lamps.
Any motor vehicle may be equipped with not to exceed three auxiliary driving lamps.
All flashing lights are completely prohibited, except in case of an emergency.
