· No vehicle on any highway shall have any lamp displaying any color of light visible from directly in front of the center except white or amber, red light being prohibited. The stop light or another signal device may be red, amber or yellow, the light illuminating the license plate shall be white and the light emitted by a back-up lamp shall be white or amber.
· Front clearance lamps, identification lamps and those marker lamps and reflector mounted on the front or on the side near the front of a vehicle shall display an amber light.
· Every motor vehicle may be equipped with no more than two spot lights, fog lamps, auxiliary passing lights and auxiliary driving lights, whereas it is permitted to have more than two headlights and tail lights. Spotlights beams shall not strike the windshield, fog lamps are to be mounted at a height not less than 12 inches nor more than 30 inches, auxiliary passing lamps – 24-42 inches, auxiliary driving lamps – 16-42 inches respectively. Every headlight upon every vehicle shall be located at a height of not less 24 nor more than 54 inches, tail light – 15-72 inches respectively.

DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION
(a) Every vehicle, except as provided in subsection (b), upon a highway within this state, at all times shall displaylighted head and other lamps and illuminating devices as required for different classes of vehicles, subject to exceptions with respect to parked vehicles:
1) From sunset to sunrise;
2) when due to insufficient light or unfavorable atmospheric conditions, including smoke or fog, persons and vehicleson the highway are not clearly discernible at a distance of 1,000 feet ahead; or
3) when windshield wipers are in continuous use as a result of rain, sleet or snow. Stop lights, turn signals and other signaling devices shall be lighted as prescribed for the use of such devices.
(b) Motorcycles, motor-driven cycles and motorized bicycles manufactured after January 1, 1978, shall display lightedhead and tail lights at all times that such vehicles are operated on any highway.
(a) Every motor vehicle shall be equipped with at least two (2) head lamps with at least one (1) on each side of the front of the motor vehicle, which head lamps shall comply with the requirements and limitations set forth in this article.
(b) Every head lamp upon every motor vehicle manufactured or assembled after July 1, 1959, shall be located at a height of not more than fifty-four (54) inches nor less than twenty-four (24) inches to be measured as set forth in subsection (b) of K.S.A. 8-1704.

Any motor vehicle may be equipped with not to exceed two (2) spot lamps. Every lighted spot lamp emitting a whitelight shall be so aimed and used that no part of the high intensity portion of the beam will strike the windshield, or any windows, mirror or occupant of another vehicle in motion. The limitations of this subsection shall not apply to a policevehicle used as an authorized emergency vehicle.
Any motor vehicle may be equipped with not to exceed two (2) fog lamps mounted on the front at a height not less than twelve (12) inches nor more than thirty (30) inches above the level surface upon which the vehicle stands and so aimed that when the vehicle is not loaded none of the high intensity portion of the light to the left of the center of the vehicleshall project, at a distance of twenty-five (25) feet ahead, higher than a level of four (4) inches below the level of the center of the lamp from which it comes. Lighted fog lamps meeting the above requirements may be used with lower head lamp beams as specified in subsection (a) (2) of K.S.A. 8-1724.
Any motor vehicle may be equipped with not to exceed two (2) auxiliary passing lamps mounted on the front at a height not less than twenty-four (24) inches nor more than forty-two (42) inches above the level surface upon which thevehicle stands. The provisions of K.S.A. 8-1724 shall apply to any combination of head lamps and auxiliary passing lamps.
Any motor vehicle may be equipped with not to exceed two (2) auxiliary driving lamps mounted on the front at a height not less than sixteen (16) inches nor more than forty-two (42) inches above the level surface upon which the vehicle stands. The provisions of K.S.A. 8-1724 shall apply to any combination of head lamps and auxiliary driving lamps.
COLORS RESTRICTIONS
8-1711.
(a) Front clearance lamps, identification lamps and those marker lamps and reflectors mounted on the front or on the side near the front of a vehicle shall display or reflect an amber color.

(b) Rear clearance lamps, identification lamps and those marker lamps and reflectors mounted on the rear or on the sides near the rear of a vehicle shall display or reflect a red color.

(b) No person shall drive or move any vehicle or equipment upon any highway with any lamp or device capable of displaying a red light visible from directly in front of the center thereof, nor shall any vehicle or equipment upon any highway have any lamp or device displaying any color of light visible from directly in front of the center thereof except white or amber or any shade of color between white and amber.

(e) All lighting devices and reflectors mounted on the rear of any vehicle shall display or reflect a red color, except the stop light or other signal device, which may be red, amber or yellow, and except that the light illuminating the license plate shall be white and the light emitted by a back-up lamp shall be white or amber.

(f) Any motor vehicle may be equipped with neon ground effect lighting, except that such lighting shall not flash, be any shade of red nor shall any portion of the neon tubes be visible. "Neon ground effect lighting" means neon tubes placed underneath the motor vehicle for the purpose of illuminating the ground below the motor vehicle creating a halolight effect.

(c) Flashing lights are prohibited except as authorized or required in K.S.A. 8-1717, 8-1720, 8-1721, 8-1722, 8-1723, 8-1730, 8-1730a and 8-1731, and amendments thereto.
